The Holy Father has appointed His Grace, Archbishop Ignatius Ayau Kaigama as the Coadjutor Archbishop of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
With his appointment, Msgr Kaigama will take over from His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan who has clocked the retirement age of 75.
The Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, made the announcement yesterday during the opening ceremony of the first plenary meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) in Abuja.
Aid to the Church in Need (Malta) through its National Director, congratulates His Excellency on this appointment:

Msgr Kaigama is an ardent promoter and project partner of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN). It would be recalled that he was in Malta four years ago to witness the opening of the Maltese National Office of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) and also last year as Keynote Speaker for the Launching of ACN’s Religious Freedom in the World Report.
