ACN Malta congratulates Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi, the new Auxiliary Bishop
ACN Malta would like to congratulate Mgr Joseph Galea-Curmi, the current Vicar-General of the Archdiocese of Malta, on his new appointment as Auxiliary Bishop. He is a well- known and respected figure within the Church in Malta.
As the Archbishop’s closest collaborator, Mgr Galea-Curmi will be involved in the day-to-day running of the diocese as well as leadership responsibilities in the Curia and in diocesan pastoral mission. He will also assist when Archbishop Charles Scicluna has to travel abroad to fulfil his responsibilities as papal envoy.
Mgr Galea-Curmi thanked Pope Francis and Archbishop Scicluna for the faith they have shown in him and pledged to carry out his new duties with “generosity, love and an open heart.”
The episcopal ordination is expected to take place on 4 August at Mdina cathedral. Mgr Galea-Curmi will then become a member of the Maltese Episcopal Conference, alongside Archbishop Scicluna and Mgr Mario Grech, the Bishop of Gozo.
AD multos annos.
