CATHOLIC SCHOOLS IN LEBANON RISK OF CLOSING DOWN - The situation

Sadly, the collapse of the Lebanese economy has left many Catholic parents unable to provide basic necessities like education and food for their children.

  • Around one million children in Lebanon are deprived of education today.
  • One in ten children left school in the past academic year due to their families’ financial difficulties.
  • Rising prices and widespread unemployment have put 74% of families into extreme poverty.

What we’re doing

Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) is currently working with over 150 Catholic schools in Lebanon to support children with tuition, hot meals, sandwiches at breaktime, and other school supplies.

● Supporting fragile Catholic families with the education of their children and strengthening their presence in their homeland.
● Contributing to sustainable development through the provision of food for children in Catholic schools.
● Helping Christian children with special needs to integrate into society, securing the possibility for further education.
